AI in engineering – for real?

September 18, 2026/by admin

AI in engineering – for real? 🤖⚙️

Artificial Intelligence is transforming industries around the world. But what does it actually mean for engineering?

Will AI replace engineers, machinists and installers?

We don’t think so.

AI has enormous potential to change how machinery is designed, manufactured and maintained – analysing data, supporting design optimisation, identifying patterns and potentially predicting problems before they cause costly downtime.

In manufacturing, that could mean faster development, smarter production, predictive maintenance and increasingly sophisticated quality control.

But engineering doesn’t happen entirely on a computer screen.

Behind every successful piece of machinery are skilled engineers, machinists, technicians and installers who turn designs into reality.

A skilled machinist understands how materials actually behave. An experienced engineer can recognise when something isn’t quite right. And when complex machinery arrives at a customer’s production facility, it takes knowledgeable installers and technicians to assemble, commission, calibrate, test and optimise it for the real-world environment.

AI can’t turn up with a toolbox.

It can’t physically machine a precision component, feel an unexpected vibration, make an instinctive adjustment based on decades of experience or work alongside a customer to solve an unforeseen installation problem.

At Oasys Technologies, technology and automation have always been central to what we do – but so are the highly skilled people behind our machines.

AI will undoubtedly become another powerful engineering tool.

But the future isn’t AI versus people.

It’s AI supporting the engineers, machinists and installers whose knowledge, craftsmanship and practical experience make great engineering possible.

Artificial Intelligence is powerful. Human intelligence makes it work.

Applied Cleaning Logic

September 14, 2026/by admin

Applied Cleaning Logic – one principle, very different materials.

Effective contact cleaning isn’t simply about removing contamination. It’s about understanding the material you’re cleaning and applying the right cleaning process without compromising the product.

At Oasys Technologies, our Contact Sheet Cleaning systems have been engineered with versatility in mind.

From micro-thin, flexible materials requiring extremely careful handling, through to significantly thicker and more rigid substrates such as printed circuit boards (PCBs), the same fundamental challenge remains:

Remove contamination effectively. Protect the material. Keep production moving.

That requires intelligent material handling, carefully controlled contact and a cleaning process designed around the demands of modern manufacturing.

The ability to accommodate such a broad range of material types and thicknesses makes Oasys Contact Sheet Cleaning technology applicable far beyond traditional banking card production.

Whether it’s a delicate sheet or a rigid circuit board, the objective remains the same – a consistently clean surface ready for the next critical manufacturing process.

Different materials. Different challenges. The same cleaning logic.

That’s the thinking behind Oasys Technologies.

Meet The Team – David Franklin

September 9, 2026/by admin

Meet The Team – David Franklin – bringing more than 30 years of smart card expertise to Oasys Technologies.
David began his career in the semiconductor industry during the mid-1980s, working with California-based memory specialist Xicor Inc. and Siemens Semiconductors in Munich—now Infineon Technologies.
His time at Siemens introduced him to the emerging world of smart cards. In a series of technical and international sales roles, David built relationships with card manufacturers, financial institutions, telecom providers and PayTV operators. He also supported the deployment of pioneering programmes including the Boots Advantage Card, BT Phonecards and MULTOS banking and security solutions.
David later joined German smart card and RFID start-up ACG AG, establishing its UK office and developing the company’s business across the UK and Ireland. Over eight years, he built a diverse customer base and helped increase sales from €250,000 to €10 million.
Following ACG’s acquisition by ASSA ABLOY and integration into HID Global, David became Sales Director within its Cards and Inlays Business Unit. He led international sales to major card manufacturers, systems integrators and scheme operators, supplying high-volume inlays and prelaminates to the banking and transportation markets.
Today, David brings this extensive technical, commercial and market knowledge to Oasys Technologies. His experience gives him a valuable perspective on the needs of card manufacturers and the production systems required to serve them.
As Oasys continues to develop its presence across the global Security and ID markets, David is helping the company build strong customer relationships and deliver innovative, dependable card-production solutions.

CCTV – Credit Card Television 📹💳

September 7, 2026/by admin

Not the CCTV you might be thinking of…
Inside modern card production machinery, increasingly sophisticated camera systems are providing manufacturers with a close-up view of what’s happening at critical stages of the production process.
Think of it as Credit Card Television.
Compact cameras and vision systems can monitor materials as they move through machinery, helping operators identify potential defects, alignment issues and production problems before they become bigger – and more expensive – issues.
In high-volume card manufacturing, that visibility can make a significant difference.
✔ Detect potential defects earlier
✔ Monitor alignment and positioning
✔ Identify production issues quickly
✔ Reduce unnecessary waste and rework
✔ Support consistent product quality
✔ Help keep machinery and production running smoothly
At Oasys Technologies, we understand that automation isn’t simply about making machinery faster. It’s about making the entire manufacturing process smarter, more visible and more controllable.
When you’re producing cards at scale, sometimes the smallest camera can provide the biggest insight.
CCTV: Credit Card Television. Keeping a close eye on quality.

The Gift Card Conundrum: Digital convenience or something you can actually hold?

September 4, 2026/by admin

Almost everything is becoming digital.

We tap to pay. We shop online. Tickets live on our phones. So surely the physical gift card should be disappearing too?

And yet, there’s something digital still struggles to replicate: tangibility.

Sending someone a digital code is convenient. Handing them a physical gift card feels like giving them something.

It can be wrapped. Put inside a birthday card. Placed under a Christmas tree. Displayed at the point of sale. And, importantly for retailers, the physical card becomes another opportunity to put their brand directly into the customer’s hands.

That’s the gift card conundrum.

Digital delivers speed and convenience, but physical delivers presence, experience and perceived value.

And today’s physical cards don’t have to exist separately from the digital world. QR codes, online activation, digital accounts and other technologies can connect a tangible product with a much wider digital experience.

At Oasys Technologies, we’ve spent decades developing machinery and automation for card production – helping manufacturers deliver the quality, consistency and efficiency demanded by modern card programmes.

The world may be going digital, but sometimes there’s still no substitute for putting something real in someone’s hand.

Digital is convenient. Physical feels like a gift.

So, how clean is clean?

September 2, 2026/by admin

In banking card manufacturing, the answer can make the difference between a perfect finished product and costly rejection.
Dust, fibres and microscopic particles may seem insignificant, but when materials are being printed, collated and laminated, even tiny contaminants can become trapped between layers – potentially creating visible defects and affecting production yield.
That’s why Contact Sheet Cleaning is such an important part of the card manufacturing process.
At Oasys Technologies, we believe cleaning shouldn’t simply be another stage in production. It should be a precise, reliable and highly effective process that protects everything that comes afterwards.
Our Contact Sheet Cleaning systems have been engineered specifically for demanding production environments, helping remove surface contamination before materials progress to critical downstream processes.
The result?
✔ Cleaner sheets
✔ Fewer contamination-related defects
✔ Improved consistency
✔ Reduced waste and rework
✔ Better production yields
✔ Greater confidence before lamination
With decades of experience in the banking card industry, Oasys understands that when you’re producing millions of high-quality cards, small imperfections can become very big problems.
So, how clean is clean?
Clean enough that contamination doesn’t become part of the finished product.
That’s the standard Oasys Technologies is engineered to deliver.
